Who we are
Myanmar Connect (“we”, “us”) is a free community platform that connects Myanmar migrant workers and seekers of services in Thailand, available as a web app and as mobile apps for Android and iOS. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. You can contact us any time at hello@myanmarconnect.app.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your display name; your email address if you link one; and your basic Google profile (name, email) if you sign in with Google.
- Content you create. Service listings and their photos, chat messages, bookings, reviews, and community posts.
- Approximate location. Only if you enable location features, and only to show services near you. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.
- Device and usage data. A push notification token if you enable notifications, device type, and in-app activity (pages viewed, actions taken) used to operate and improve the platform.
Guest accounts: you can use the platform as a guest with just a display name. A guest account is an anonymous account tied to your device. If you clear your browser data or switch devices it cannot be recovered — link an email or Google account to keep it.
How we use your information
To run the service: showing your listings to other users, delivering chat messages and notifications, preventing abuse and moderating reported content, and understanding how the product is used so we can improve it. We do not show third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Payments
Myanmar Connect does not process payments. Payment for services is agreed and settled directly between you and the other person, outside the app. We never ask for or store card numbers, bank details, or wallet credentials.
Service providers we rely on
These providers process data on our behalf to make the platform work:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (your account, content, and photos live here).
- Vercel — hosting for the web app.
- Google — optional Google sign-in.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivery of push notifications on the mobile apps.
None of them are permitted to use your data for their own advertising.
What others can see
Your profile name and your listings are visible to other users. Your chat messages are visible only to the people in the conversation, and to our moderation team when a conversation is reported. We disclose information outside the platform only when the law requires it.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your listings and posts yourself at any time. When you request account deletion — from the account deletion page or by emailing hello@myanmarconnect.app — we delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days; residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days.
Children
Myanmar Connect is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child is using the platform, contact us and we will remove the account.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to production data is limited to the small team that operates the platform. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and content, or sign out, at any time.
- Turn notifications and location on or off in Settings (or your device settings).
- Request a copy of your data or deletion of your account — see Delete account.
- Revoke Google sign-in access from your Google account’s security settings.
