Following the implementation of the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) system, the prices of smartphones have significantly increased. A total tax and penalty of up to 37% will be levied on phones entering through the border and used devices, making smartphones that were previously available for around 500,000 Kyats much more expensive.
